Did you receive a traffic ticket and would like to fight it, but don't want to spend several hours, if not the entire day, standing in line at your local traffic court?
Or do you feel that you have a great case, but don't feel confident that your inner Perry Mason will be present when you cross-examine the ticketing officer and present your case to the traffic judge?
After all, unless you're a seasoned attorney accustomed to arguing cases in court, you will not have the advantage of experience when you argue your case in a courtroom in front of a judge. The police officer, on the other hand, the one who issued you the ticket has most probably been successfully defending his traffic tickets for several years in the same courtroom you would be stepping into for the first time.
When you choose up to fight your traffic ticket in court, the police officer definitely has home field advantage. It's what he does for a living. The game then becomes a contest between a professional and an amateur. Guess who usually wins?.
But there's a better way to fight your ticket, one that doesn't even require you to leave your home. One that takes the home field advantage away from the police officer. You can fight your ticket with nothing more than a pen and paper, or with a keyboard and printer, by writing what is known as a Trial By Written Declaration or TWD.
Nine states in the country currently offer this TWD option to fight your traffic ticket, including California, which is the focus of this book. But even if you are residing in another state, one that offers this convenient, no-hassle option to fight your traffic ticket, you will find this book to a great way to get started writing your own trial by written declaration.
The author tells his own story of how he went from enthusiastic supporter of traffic enforcement to disillusioned critic of a system which he feels has become increasingly focused on writing tickets simply to increase government revenue. His frustration with the current traffic enforcement system, as well as learning about the negative traffic ticket experiences of several friends and family, has led him to write this book.
Anyone who is looking to fight their traffic ticket through a written declaration will find lots of ideas and tips on how to organize their own ideas and arguments. It is a short, concise guide to getting your trial by written declaration written quickly and effectively.
You can beat your ticket without ever setting foot in a courtroom. The book will help you do that.

I purchased this book anticipating that it will include all legal language / Template along with different topics of defending camera tickets. I found this book shallow in substance and does not include REQUIRED declaration "I declare .....the foregoing as true and correct".Not useful at all..

How I Beat My Traffic Ticket With Pen and Paper A Short Concise Guide To Writing An Effective Trial By Declaration edition by Walter Kipping Professional Technical eBooks Reviews
I found this book incredibly helpful when I wrote my own traffic ticket declaration. The author explains in a very easy to follow way what kinds of facts to include in your declaration, as well as how to present those facts in the most persuasive way possible. He also does a great job of showing how the vehicle code can be your friend and support your case when it is cited effectively in your declaration.
He provides several sample declarations which all demonstrate how you can make your case effectively by weaving together fact and pertinent sections of law from the state's vehicle code.
As for the previous complaint that the book does not contain a sample declaration for fighting red light camera tickets, well, this is true, but, from what I've heard , those tickets, unfortunately, require a much more involved defense than a simple declaration can offer. To fight a red light camera ticket, from what I know, you probably need a traffic engineering expert brought in by an experienced attorney who has fought those kinds of tickets before.
One more thing about the book not having the requisite "I declare...true and correct." He must have missed this part of the book as the author makes it clear that each declaration must have a such an oath attached to it. But even if one forgets to include this in his written declaration, it is part of the ticket form that is signed and attached to the written declaration. So no problem here either.
I give this book five stars. Not sure how I would have written my own declaration without it.
